Pros and cons of ChefSteps app for iPhone and iPad
ChefSteps app good for
The app in itself is great. The design is sleek and fluid.
The recipes on the other hand are more eye candy then actually practical.
I have done some of them, but most look impossible.
You can get the video on YouTube anyway. So if you just intend to watch. Go there.
Resourceful and easy to use, the ChefSteps app makes it convenient to view the website on my ipad. There are links that provide information on each ingredient and step by step videos from their youtube channel.
Suggestion: I dont have a scale, so I refer to online calculators to convert the mass into volume for each dry ingredient. Its annoying to switch back and forth between the app and calculator. It would great if in the next update you had such a calculator for dry ingredients.
Great apps!Good recipies, the photos and videos are so much better than a plain page.Continue guys! 5 stars!
Best team of cooks ever. Great recipes, makes me want to cook more than Walter White.
Congratulations.
Wow, Im surprised no one has reviewed this yet! ChefSteps is a truly remarkable website with detailed step-by-step instructions for professional recipes using modernist techniques (i.e. Sous-vide, gellification, etc)
The app is very good, the only issue which had me debating whether to give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the website has user comments, and the chef/mod answers to those questions/comments which are often very helpful. If those were somehow integrated into the app it would take this app to the next level. I ended up giving it 5 stars anyway because ChefSteps deserves it, the content is there and compared to other apps out there this is far superior.
Love your recipes, and techniques! Although can you add favorites to your app? So you can browse now, and quickly find favorite recipe later when you decide to try to cook it.
Some bad moments
Ha just like everything else and everyone else. Nickel and dime app. Great content but no longer free.
Solidly built, beautiful, and fast. A brilliant way to access all of the ChefSteps recipes from your phone without having to open the browser. Smart that theyre focused on providing a narrow set of full fledged features rather than a boatload of half-baked ones. Look forward to seeing how this progresses.
One wish: going back shouldnt lose my place in the recipe queue (send me back to the top).
This is a great way to get to the recipes from ChefSteps in the quickest way possible. No browsers or searching online. Awesome!
This is a well thought out, well put together, beautifully done app!!! Its like a Panna, Jr. (which is a darn good thing)!!!:*) That said, it would be way more convenient if you didnt have to reload over and over again (the same recipes) in order to see what else is available. Also a conversion chart or a way to view ingredients in Imperial would be helpful as would a Favorites folders.
A few little tweaks and Id see stars...5 STARS, that is!!:*)
Getting a split frame video on American toast where the app runs two copies of the video simultaneously
The world would be a better place if everyone was as dedicated as the ChefSteps team! Nice work, this is huge.
