Let me add my voice to those who find having to reload the recipes after viewing one is tedious. Recipes are on point and the 75 degree egg trick is sweet. One tweak and its a five!
Huge fan of ChefSteps & their newly released app. Would rate it 5-star if 1) screen would rotate when viewed in landscape mode on an iPad, and 2) going from one recipe to the next does not require reloading.
Definitely the best recipe app out there! Easy navigation and great pictures to go along with each recipe. Its a mist download!!
This app exceeds my expectations. Beautiful and intuitive. I CANNOT figure out if the sound for videos has been intentionally omitted or Ive selected something inadvertently. Also cannot find a link anywhere to tech support to report problem. Would love to know whats up. Website, same videos have great sound as expected.
So much knowledge available for a cook
The app is very nice but only for free recipes. 1. I have bought some classes and there is no way I can see those classes in this App. If those are available then I do not see the option to be very obvious. So far I did not find a way to see my paid classes on my iPhone or iPad. 2. There is no option to contact chef steps people. There is no way of contacting them or give feedback or question from app. Even on website I have not found any email or contact point so far. 3. App is very basic and beautiful. But needs more work to be done. It would be awesome if I can see paid classes and buy it from my phone/ipad.
Gorgeous recipes in an app that really shows off the videos and is easy to cook and shop from.
Some feature requests... Allow users to favorite recipes, provide an interactive version of your sous vide timetable. Thanks, and keep up the great work!
These guys just get it. Full of inspiration for ALL cooking levels! A must have on my phone.
UPDATE: Still no sound. Sound works on external Bluetooth speaker, but not the iPhone speakers. Love the app, but just a couple points to note: 1. No sound! 2. No forums 3. Hate the continuous scroll because it looses your place when returning to browse. Content is unmatched, however!!
Overall a good app that could use more thought and polish. Here are my two complaints. I took off a star for each. 1) When scrolling down recipes you lose your place after you select the recipe and then press the back button. You automatically go back to the top. Maybe the top left button can actually contain more content like favorites or browse by type of dish, etc. 2) The calculation for the amount of time to cook an egg requires you to connect to the server. If there is no server connection the calculation does not occur. Just make the app a bit bigger and put the database for the egg calculator there. Pretty simple fix.
The quality of this apps content is on-point, its a shame the app itself doesnt follow-suit. To start, Ive had terrible problems navigating the app. It locks/freezes often or doesnt respond appropriately. Additionally, searching is useless and it doesnt leave access to any of the chef steps training for offline use!!!
Links from the app to external sites dead-end. No way to return to Chef Step app from the browser it opens to access external sites, such as ingredient vendors.
I cannot get into app... Just a white screen. Cannot remove app to reload either, please fix this
Much better app that feels way more polished. I still wish I could swipe to go back to main page for recipes. Im still forced to tap top left arrow. Not best user experience.
This app is simply gorgeous. The combination if beautiful photos and a slick design is killer. Whats more is its also very easy to use, straight-forward, and helpful. Love it.
My favorite
Great app from a great company. Followed their website long before I found out about the app, and they have taught me so much. Much love for this.
If you like to cook - whether youre just learning your way around the kitchen or maybe youve been doing it for a long time - this app is an amazing tool. Ive visited their website before, and as far as cooking techniques go, its a truly outstanding resource.......and its free. The recipes are well thought out and designed for anyone to be able to execute from start to finish. And the videos and photos that accompany them are absolutely AMAZING. I used to work in restaurants and consider myself an above average cook, and Im always impressed when I learn something new like I do when I visit their website. As someone a bit older, I used to have a negative attitude when it came to using newer, somewhat "unorthodox," techniques, unusual ingredients and procedures (like putting food in a plastic bag and cooking it at a lower temperature, for example), but the way they instruct you at ChefSteps makes it seem very effortless, and the recipes always work. If this was a app that cost a lot of money, I might be prone to nitpick about little bugs that inevitably get overlooked, but if they exist, Im sure theyll get fixed and Ill leave it at that. And its free, so just install the app and check it out - youll be glad you did.
